Beginning in May 2024, YY Gray will drop a series of singles starting with the songs “Brother,” “Break Things,” and “Hollywood Trash.”

BAND BIO

YY Gray plays outsider anthems with bedroom eyes.

They are a five-piece band from Oakland, CA comprised of songwriter Sosha Young on vocals and rhythm guitar, co-songwriter Ricky Ybarra on drums, arranger/producer Julian Gray on bass, Pete Egan on keyboards, and Geoff McCann on lead guitar. Their music draws influences from girl groups and Latin jazz from the 1960’s, 70’s soul and 90’s indie rock.

Young’s vulnerable vocal style rocks heavy with contagious rhythms from Ybarra on drums and Gray on bass, while McCann (guitar) and Egan’s (piano) soaring harmonies add up to a unique sound best described as “garage-a-nova.”

Live shows are as dynamic as an emotional rollercoaster that ends up washing you up onto a private beach. Expect deeply funky grooves that have been known to sooth a lost soul while ripping open the third eye.

YY Gray is currently in the process of recording singles for their debut LP to be completed and released next year.
